Action! Worcester is a nonprofit in Worcester, MA catalyzing change that builds strong communities through observation, conversation, and collaboration. We are committed to inclusive economic development efforts and promote civic engagement in Worcester by raising awareness, facilitating introduction, and coordinating events that drive community growth.  

We are a fun startup environment of young, enthusiastic professionals who want to make Worcester a better place! As a startup, we expect applicants to be self-starters who tackle challenges head on and have a motivation to succeed without a lot of oversight. Ideal candidates can take a project concept, understand the tasks necessary to accomplish it and build a project plan, and execute on those tasks.

Internships support the operational duties of the organization and are currently focus on:

  • Transcription and coding of focus group audio recordings
  • Creating and organizing informational databases
  • Analyzing data across multiple sources
  • Conducting informational interviews with people/entities of interest
  • Developing presentations, infographics, and website copy related to findings
  • Responding to project inquiries by partners or the public (via email, phone)

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on professional writing
  • Ability to think ahead, to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for working collaboratively with a passionate team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with short-term research projects
  • Social and charismatic, comfortable working with the public

This is a paid, 20 hour/week internship that concludes prior to the Fall 2018-19 semester.
Applicants must meet ALL of the following:

  • Legal authorization to work in the US
  • Completion of at least first year of undergraduate study by internship start date

If seeking For-Credit Internship instead; Applicant must meet ALL of the following:

  • Enrollment at an accredited college/university
  • Commitment to minimum of 8-10 hours per week is required for credit
  • Ability to start, at the latest, the first week of July 2018
  • Please note that for-credit int ernships are unpaid
